USPS Return Receipt Tracking:

The return receipt will include a barcode that comes along with a tracking number. As you think, this tracking number will not help you to track your package sent by the mailer, but it will provide tracking info on the physical receipt as it will be mailed to the sender of the package. You can visit the official site of the USPS to get tracking information. A package with this service can be shipped from the office or home.
