If you have missed your USPS package on the first attempt, you can request and arrange redelivery package online. During the first delivery attempt, your letter carrier would have left a PS Form 3849, a peach-colored notice. Using this slip, you can schedule the redelivery.

Redelivery on the Same Day:

In case, if you wish to receive the mail on the same day you missed, you would have received a peach colored slip, also called as PS Form 3849, from your carrier. This slip will help you look up your items and reschedule delivery.

To have the parcel redelivery on the same day, you have missed it; you should raise a request for USPS redelivery and submit it at least by 2 AM CST. This facility is available from Monday to Saturday. In case, if this service is not available in your ZIP Code, then you should check with your local post office. You will receive the necessary assistance from them.

You need to provide your article number on this form. You can find the article number from the notice left by your letter carrier. The article number is essential for postal service to locate your item. You will also find a question “When did we try delivering it”? This question will help USPS to know the number of times they attempted to deliver the package. In case if this is your final notice, you need to check the box against the respective field. Next question you need to answer is “When do you want to get your items?” You need to enter the answer like when you wish to receive the package and how you wish to receive it. If required you can also add additional instructions in the form.

How to Cancel/Change Redelivery Request?

While you placed your request, you would have received an email from USPS for redelivery confirmation. There should be a confirmation number. This confirmation number is essential if you wish to make some changes in your raised request. Below is the process to modify the redelivery request online:

  • You will find a link called “Edit this request” in the email, click on it.
  • You can also visit the Redelivery Service page and click “Edit an existing redelivery request.”

Edit Redelivery request

  • Enter the confirmation number and email or phone number you used in your request.
  • Next, you will see a sequence of prompts where you can make the necessary changes.
  • You can also visit “Changing/Cancelling a Redelivery Order” for further guidance. You will be able to find this in the Redelivery visual aid.
  • If you have created an account with USPS, you can log-in to your account to view your Activity History.
  • In that page, you will find the list of Redelivery of previous orders.
  • Click on the View Details and follow the prompts.

Modify/Cancel Request Through Phone Call:

You can also change or cancel the request for Redelivery through a phone call. For this, you need your USPS redelivery confirmation number. Dial the number 1-800-275-8777 and modify or cancel your order. Some customer service executives will help you to modify your request.

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET

Who can Schedule and Accept Redelivery?

If you are not available at your home for receiving your redelivery shipment, then you can also authorize anyone to collect that shipment. The authorized member will be able to schedule and collect the redelivery. The authorized person can be someone from your family, your close friend, an agent of the recipient, or an employee of the recipient. But the member can schedule and collect the redelivery only if he/she provides an ID proof or essential information like information regarding the redelivery.
